Loogabarooga Festival

This year the Loogabarooga Festival is delighted to welcome Waterstone's Children's Laureate, Lauren Child.  The opening day, Wednesday 18th October is jam-packed with exciting Lauren Child themed activities, including Lauren Child live at Loughborough Town Hall and parties for all you little Charlie and Lolas out there! You can start the day by following the Lauren Child illustration town trail around the town centre shops all the way to Charnwood Museum, where you can see original artwork from your favourite Lauren Child books. The Handicraft Unit at Loughborough University

Loughborough has a unique and interesting history whereby today's internationally recognised Design School emerged from a commitment to inviting leading craftsmen from ‘the Cotswold School’ to train students in furniture making. The ‘Handicraft Unit’, as it was then known, required its students to set aside time each week to work under two of the most famous proponents of the Cotswold School, firstly Peter Waals and later Edward Barnsley.
