Lez Cope-Newman has been appointed as the new Love Loughborough BID Chair, and Andy Rhodes has been appointed as Vice Chair at the organisation’s AGM.
At the meeting, which took place on Tuesday, December 13, members met to hear the annual report and to decide who would take on the role of chair as David Pagett-Wright, BID chair for the last two year, steps down.
The board elected hotelier Lez Cope-Newman, BID vice chair for the last five years, as the new chairperson and Andy Rhodes, of McDonald’s, as vice chair. Mr Pagett-Wright will be staying on at the BID as a board member.
Mr Cope-Newman said: “I am delighted to have been voted in as the new chair of Love Loughborough BID having supported two excellent chairs as vice chair for five years.
“I look forward to building on our success and experiences over the next five years with the support of existing board members and some new ones.”
As the outgoing chair, Mr Pagett-Wright presented the annual report at the meeting which began by discussing the success of the ballot vote which took place earlier this year and saw more than 220 businesses vote for BID to carry on its work for another five years.
Mr Pagett-Wright also looked at the BID’s achievements over the past year which includes; introducing the first phase of free WiFi in town, reaching record attendance rates at many Loughborough community events and seeing vacancy rates drop to 7.5 per cent – the lowest since the BID was established in 2012.
