{"id":1202,"date":"2020-07-09T09:24:20","date_gmt":"2020-07-09T09:24:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/loveloughborough.co.uk\/love-bid\/?p=1202"},"modified":"2020-07-09T09:24:20","modified_gmt":"2020-07-09T09:24:20","slug":"an-update-from-hmrc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/loveloughborough.co.uk\/love-bid\/an-update-from-hmrc\/","title":{"rendered":"An update from HMRC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today the Chancellor announced the introduction of the Job Retention Bonus.<\/p>\n<p>This is a one-off payment of \u00a31,000 to employers that have used the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) for each furloughed employee who remains continuously employed until 31\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJanuary 2021. The bonus will provide additional support to retain employees.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible, employees will need to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>earn at least \u00a3520 per month (above the Lower Earnings Limit) on average for November, December and January<\/li>\n<li>have been furloughed by you at any point and legitimately claimed for under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme<\/li>\n<li>have been continuously employed by you up until at least 31\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJanuary 2021.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Employers will be able to claim the bonus from February 2021 once accurate RTI data to 31\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJanuary has been received.\u00a0More information about this scheme will be available by 31\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJuly and full guidance will be published in the Autumn.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Other new measures announced<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Chancellor also announced other measures, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme \u2013 during August, diners can get 50% off Monday to Wednesday on meals and non-alcoholic drinks, up to \u00a310 per person, when eating at participating restaurants, bars, cafes and other establishments that have registered<\/li>\n<li>VAT reduction \u2013 from 15\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJuly until 12\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJanuary 2021, the UK government will cut VAT from 20% to 5% on any eat-in or hot takeaway food and drinks from restaurants, cafes and pubs, excluding alcohol. This VAT reduction also applies to all holiday accommodation in hotels, B&amp;Bs, campsites and caravan sites, as well as attractions like cinemas, theme parks and zoos<\/li>\n<li>an increase in the Stamp Duty Land Tax\u00a0(SDLT) threshold in England and Northern Ireland \u2013 increasing the threshold under which no SDLT is paid on the purchase of a main home from \u00a3125,000 to \u00a3500,000, with immediate effect until 31\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cMarch 2021.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information, search &#8216;plan for jobs&#8217; on GOV\u200c\u200c\u200c.UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Updates on CJRS scheme<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We would also like to make you aware of some key dates on the CJRS scheme that might affect you:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Claiming for employees furloughed on or before 30\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJune<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You need to claim by <strong>31\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJuly<\/strong> for employees furloughed through the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS) for periods ending on or before 30\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJune.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Get ready for changes from 1\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cAugust<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You will no longer be able to use a CJRS grant to cover National Insurance (NI) and pension contributions for furloughed employees from <strong>1\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cAugust<\/strong>.\u00a0You can submit your August claim in advance, from 20\u200c\u200c\u200c\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJuly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Working out your claims<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can use our online examples and calculator to help you work out what you can claim, for claims ending on or before 31\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJuly. From 10\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cJuly you will also be able to use these to help you work out claims ending on or before 31\u200c\u200c\u200c \u200cAugust. Search for &#8216;calculate how much you can claim using the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme&#8217; on GOV\u200c\u200c\u200c\u200c\u200c\u200c.UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Made a mistake on your claim?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can now delete a claim online within 72 hours of submitting it. Search &#8216;claim for wages through Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme&#8217; on GOV\u200c\u200c\u200c.UK.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Calls to customers<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are contacting selected employers to discuss their claims.
