Love Loughborough BID, in partnership with Elephant Wi-Fi, launch online footfall statistics to make planning your trip into town less stressful.<\/p>\n

With the opening of non-essential shopping on 15th June, Love Loughborough BID and Charnwood Borough Council have taken steps to keep shoppers and businesses safe in Loughborough town centre and Charnwood\u2019s towns and villages. The joint partnership has provided Charnwood businesses with advice leaflets, social distancing floor stickers, assistance with managing queues and the ability to buy PPE such as visors and hand sanitizer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

With all the measures in place, it is understandably still a stressful experience for a lot of shoppers. Elephant Wi-Fi, who provide Wi-Fi to the town centre in partnership with Love Loughborough, have developed a new web interface that will track the amount of people in any given location in Loughborough town centre with an indicator as to whether a 2-metre distance can be maintained.<\/p>\n

Based on a traffic light system, and with agreed \u2018Maximum Threshold\u2019 numbers, the dashboard refreshes every five minutes to display how busy certain areas are within the town centre.\u00a0 The dashboard also allows you to select specific days to understand the average amount of customers on that day, helping customers to plan their visit on a day which is typically less busy, allowing customers to make a decision themselves about whether they want to visit now or later.<\/p>\n

Lisa Brown, BID Manager, added \u201cthis is a fantastic tool for visitors and Loughborough BID. It allows us to regularly monitor areas within the town centre and focus our assistance where needed, and we hope this will also provide reassurance to our visitors being able to see how busy certain locations are without the need to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n
