Unique Gardeners’ Fair is coming to Loughborough
Gardeners can enjoy a new event being brought to the heart of Loughborough.
Love Loughborough BID has created the first Gardeners’ Fair which will take place on Sunday, August 6 2023 in the town centre.
The event is ‘free to all visitors’ who will be able to browse and buy plants, flowers and many other items for their garden. ‘Artisan Makers’ of all kinds, including food will be joining in to give the event a true ‘Country Fair’ atmosphere. We are also inviting local community groups to promote their work in anything ‘green’!
The Gardeners’ Fair was one of the projects chosen by Charnwood Borough Council to receive funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
Lez Cope-Newman, Chair of Love Loughborough BID, said: “The Gardeners’ Fair will be a wonderful event for Loughborough and I would encourage everyone to come along to the launch event on August 6. We aim to create a ‘horticultural heave’ in Loughborough town centre. We want to bring the best of gardening to the town centre. We will also be bringing in high quality Artisan food and Craft to create a real event for everyone. Gardeners’ Fairs are also planned for September and October and the aim is to make these regular events throughout next Spring and Summer. This will not only be great for visitors but also support the wider town centre economy.”
Cllr Jenni Tillotson, the Council’s lead member for economic development, regeneration and town centres, said: “The Council is supporting a range of projects through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to boost the local economy and local communities”.
“We are delighted to see the Gardeners’ Fair being launched and look forward to it taking place in the town centre and attracting visitors to Loughborough.”
The Gardeners’ Fair takes place on Sunday, August 6th, 10am-4pm, in Loughborough’s Devonshire Square, Cattle Market & Market Place
As part of the creation of the fair, Love Loughborough is also aiming to create a Beautiful ‘Living Wall’ in Devonshire Square. The wall will transform a drab, concrete façade above shops into a living, breathing wall of plants, bringing nature to the town centre.
The Living Wall and Gardeners’ Fair project has received £321,000 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
