February Half Term fun in Loughborough!!

Love Loughborough BID to bring some Half Term fun to Loughborough!

Come and have some half term FREE fun in the town centre.

Love Loughborough BID is creating a week of half term fun in the town centre to boost spirits and help encourage people to shop local.

The half term fun, organised in partnership with Charnwood Borough Council, will kick off at the start of the holidays, which for many pupils in Leicestershire is Saturday February 12 until Sunday February 20.

The first Saturday will be Valentine’s Day themed and will consist of balloon modelling, the stilt-walking ‘Love Bells’, live music and Love Heart sweet giveaways.

The week itself will be sprinkled with children’s rides throughout the week, before our usual award-winning market on Thursday is back with the return of the Love Bells and a juggler. The vintage and collectables market will then end the working week on Friday.

The fun doesn’t stop there though, as the excitement kicks back off on Saturday February 19 with Street Art entertainment from Arts Fresco, live music, face painting, a bubble wizard, The King Brasstards and balloon modelling.

The week will then finish on a high with a Vegan Market on Sunday February 20, bringing you the best of the best in vegan food, drinks, clothes, cosmetics and more, created by independent, ethical and sustainable businesses.

Lisa Brown, BID Manager, said: “Adults, children and families can enjoy some half term fun with live entertainment and some fun free activities on both Saturdays of half term in the town centre.

“Don’t forget the Beehive Car Park is offering free parking for an hour and free parking all day on Sundays, so why not take advantage of this and enjoy a spot of retail therapy or even maybe a lunch or and ice cream to take advantage of this extra saving?”

Whilst in the town you may also want to download our LoyalFree app that highlights some great offers and discounts around the town, including retail, food and drink so you can make a whole day of it! In particular we have a Valentine’s Day trail running at the start of the week highlight some of our key business that might be able to help you find the perfect gift for a loved one.

Lez Cope Newman, BID Chairman, said: “We wanted to encourage shoppers back to our town to enjoy a fun half term for all the family to help our businesses.

“We have all had a tough year, but Loughborough is open, safe and is ready to welcome people back. We appreciate that some shoppers may still be hesitant to come into the town, so please check our crowd counter on our website to put any doubts at ease. Here you will be able to see how busy the town is in real time so you can make the decision to come into the town based on how you feel.

“Just head to https://loughborough.geo-sense.co.uk.”

Councillor Jenny Bokor, lead member for Loughborough at Charnwood Borough Council, said: “We enjoyed some amazing events in 2021 for the 800th anniversary of Loughborough’s markets and fair, and it is great to see that 2022 is keeping the momentum going.

“I hope that many residents will come down and participate in these events. It is going to be a lot of fun, and we are pleased to be able to support the BID in making the February half term one to remember.”

So, if you want to enjoy some FREE activities, pop in this half term. Activities on the Saturdays will be on from 10am until 4pm (*some acts time vary and will be scheduled throughout the day).

These activities have been kindly supported and made possible by the Welcome Back Fund.
