Loughborough Rotary Club has been organising a Santa Fun Run in the town for the last fifteen years, raising over £500,000 for local and national charities. Everything is different in 2020, due to COVID, but we will be carrying on in our sixteenth year, for your benefit, just in an ‘alternative’ format.
Hence the ‘Alternative Santa Fun Run’ aka the ‘Alternative 2020 Charity Challenge’, whereby your supporters will be able to take part in their own space or bubble, while they raise much needed funds for your special cause, and have fun at the same time!
Encourage your supporters to go to our website: www.santa-fun-run.co.uk and register. It will cost £10 for an adult, and £5 for a child aged 7 – 16; for which they will get a Santa suit, and your charity will receive a share of any surplus we make. They will also be able to customise a fundraising page for their unique Challenge, and your charity. They can run, walk, bounce, skip or scoot, or undertake a sporting activity; during the ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ or indeed at any point during the month of December. They can even follow the normal 5km route, although there won’t be any of our friendly marshals around this year!
Children under the age of seven can enter FREE, and participate in their own Christmas outfit. Your supporters can also enter their pet in the ‘Santa Paws’ competition, and might win the Hamper for the best dressed animal [donated in memory of John Barker, the founder of College Garth Kennels].
Becky Bounce will provide a ‘warm up’ as usual, ahead of the Challenge, as she presents the ‘Twelve Days of Fitness’ on our Facebook page from 6th to 18th December. Please encourage your supporters to post photos of their Challenge and their pets during December; with a special prize being awarded to the person who demonstrates the most creative use of the suit at the end of the year.
