Love Loughborough challenges Amazon and urges customers to Shop Local

Love Loughborough challenges Amazon with the launch of its own online High Street Shop showcasing local businesses to help boost sales.

Love Loughborough BID has launched its first ever e-commerce website, offering online high street

retail with a distinctly local twist. The new site shop.loveloughborough.co.uk currently features online purchase, collection and delivery services from a host of local businesses ranging from food and drink, gifts, home & fashion, arts & crafts and health & beauty.

Familiar faces from the Loughborough streets feature on the site including Loughborough’s favourites such as Tylers & Pickworth’s alongside some amazing independents including Baan 57, Primo Jewellery and Aphotic Tattoo Studio with more to be added in the coming weeks. Why not order some tasty food or local brews for takeaway or purchase unique gift vouchers for foodie experiences? There’s a great selection to choose from including Blue Monkey ales from The Organ Grinder and delicious food and gifts from Murdoch’s, Baxter’s Tearooms, Dolcino and Barnett’s.

This all new local e-commerce site will serve as a vital service to the local public during lockdown and beyond with both click and collect and local delivery available, enabling our local businesses to give customers the opportunity to purchase their goods and services online all in one place.

Love Loughborough have also launched its local Gift Voucher shop which enables customers to purchase vouchers which can be spent in participating Loughborough businesses once restrictions are eased to encourage shopping local.

With continually challenging tier and lockdown measures, local high streets have never been so important. Lez Cope-Newman chair of the BID explains: “This is a very difficult period for the high street right now but we have seen a great return to shopping local since Covid hit us with people exploring their local high streets and discovering and buying from their community shops. We wanted to make it easier for shoppers to shop online at our local stores. We’re ready to launch and hope to see many more of our businesses joining the platform over the coming weeks.”

Lisa Brown, Love Loughborough BID Manager said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for customers to support our local businesses whilst also staying safe. Instead of defaulting to Amazon for your Christmas purchases – check out shop.loveloughborough.co.uk and explore the wide range of gifts and experiences on offer. We are launching with a dozen or so ‘shop’s but we already have over 30 signed up who are busy creating their shops and uploading their products”.
